Method, the natural cleaning and personal care company, has announced that all of its clear plastic bottles are now made from 100% recycled recovered coastal plastic. This initiative is part of a partnership with SC Johnson and Plastic Bank.
Consumers can now buy Method products, including hand wash gel, foaming hand wash, and dish soap, packaged in these sustainable bottles.
Method’s commitment to using recycled recovered coastal plastic began in 2012 with limited-edition soap bottles and has since expanded across a wider range of its offerings.
SC Johnson’s collaboration with Plastic Bank since 2018 has led to the establishment of more than 550 plastic collection points in countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Brazil. The partnership has successfully recovered the equivalent of three billion bottles to date.
Plastic Bank founder and CEO David Katz said: “Our collaboration with SC Johnson is more than just a partnership; it’s a rallying call to businesses worldwide to step up to end poverty and stop plastic pollution.”
Method is also focused on designing products that reduce plastic consumption by offering an all-purpose cleaner and foaming handwash in reusable aluminium bottles, complemented by recyclable glass concentrate refills. This has reportedly helped reduce plastic usage by 96% compared to traditional single-use bottles.
